CORONA VIRUS

After a brief self-introduction just a couple of weeks ago, here I am again with a topic that is unfortunately every where.

Although at first I didn't even want to talk about it, partly because it is a serious thing and secondly I am no medical expert. However, I happen to belong a family swarming with doctors, biologists and biochemists, so guess it won't be a bad idea to share a few thoughts. 

As a child I was always taught, by my father, who happens to be a doctor,  to be cautious, cautious about germs and hygiene, especially when roaming around crowded or public places. I wasn't even suppose to touch his clinic's desk or sit on the patients's chair, probably because of those countless teeny tiny crawling creatures that might have survived the various cleaning techniques applied on them, each day.

Heaven knows if those virulent-beings had earned immunity to all the various disinfectants a long time ago, and if it was only just a healthy exercise for them to battle a long defeated and worn out enemy whose every venomous trick had been successfully decoded. Who knows, from where each of micro-being came from? How culturally diverse were they? How they interacted with one another?Who was the strongest of them all ? Who was beaten by them all? What was their favorite meal, bread crumb, sugar or a human finger instead?

Okay, I must stop now or the weird imagination would never end.

So lets talk about Corona Virus. Well, the first thing that we all know and are sure of, is that it is primarily a virus. What is a virus then? yes, yes I know everyone knows this fellow. But still lets just recap a little to dust off that memory.

Virus is one of the most primitive organisms. It is simple in structure, that is it is a-cellular, made up of single cell. Even the cell itself is not a complete cell by definition. Virus are considered at the edge of living and non-living things. They are designated as living organisms because they contain the DNA or RNA the basic and essential material for living beings which enables them to multiply. On the other hand in unfavorable conditions these tiny viruses become completely dormant just like any non living thing, with no life and vigor at all. But, when they do it can be a chaos.

Viruses are very dependent beings, that is they basically act as parasites and they act this way not just for food but because they can't replicate or multiply on their own, so well obviously they use the replication system  of a host cell and literally hijack it and force it to betray its own self and start making multiple copies of virus instead. Evil right? But this is how nature works, I guess.

Nature that has created this amazing diversity we see around us, has been able to do so by applying certain check an balance, generally mild in most cases, but where situations take a wrong turn and start causing a threat to harmony and balance, the nature reciprocates by tightening its control system and goes for extreme measures, and like any saint or heroic figure sacrifice one part of itself to save the other more vital part of itself.

The human impact on nature is a widely known fact, so much so that in many of our novels and movies we ourselves have depicted how this beautiful world would ultimately come to a lock down situation from the countless blessings it has received from human civilization. The term Apocalypse encompasses it all. Whether or not this prediction is true only time could tell, but the lethal effects on nature cannot be denied.

Humans have used their intelligence to scrap off everything, we have gone way beyond our limits and boundaries, we have pushed every other living being towards the margin of our Planet by expanding our population. Do we humans think we can manage this Earth on our own or with the help of few robots that we intend to create?

Our sophisticated machinery has lashed the guardians of this world, yes I am referring to trees to make space for lavish skyscraper buildings and whatnot. Our greed has made us to devour every resource. Many species are endangered, the climate itself is flickering with clouds of pollution floating everywhere. We replaced the Earths aborigines with our mechanized and engineered ones, handing them over to Earth as compensation for killings her children.

We ourselves are Earth's children, aren't we? at least She thinks we are. She has always been there for us, providing us delicious and mood lifting food, adding colors to our lives through vibrant flowers, the changing seasons, the autumn leaves, the spring's blossoms, the summer sunshine and winter's calmness. The countless stars we see on the stretched canopy, the paranormal activities of celestial bodies and not to forget the various question with which it fills our mind, and give it a reason to live. But we forgot it all, forgot it all because all we want is to reach at the top to gain everything and leave nothing behind, to get everything out of everything. Thus, we have badly emptied the poor Earth with every treasure she had, and the sad part is She kept it and held it for us, but our greed and impatience made us to snatch everything the Reservoir of Love has stored.

Alas, a human being can be reckoned as a child who did nothing but mischief and being blind folded by selfishness, deprived and harmed the rest of the siblings. No mother could forgive such a child, therefore after granting several chances and forgiveness, she finally punishes him, though for his own good and for the good of everyone. The Mother Earth does the same, for the harmony and balance which is necessary for survival of every living and even non living being, thus Earth imposes good amount of sanctions on anyone who tries to threaten her household, after issuing several warning letters. The viruses as I believe are one of those warnings. Virus as I said earlier are simple yet very smart and not to forget resistant beings, they are not easy to kill.

A viral-infection can only be fought by making our bodies immune to them. But viruses like many other species are able to undergo a process called mutation by which they can alter their DNA or RNA which is their genetic code, thereby producing a new strand or an altered strand, with which our immune system is not familiar at all and thus could cause immense threat. Something which this corona virus may be doing.

Human population has grown several folds as compared to any other specie and has introduced various kinds of pollutants and environmental deterrents with time thereby openly defying Nature's balance and rules. And when rules are broken Prize must be paid.

Who knows may be viruses such as this , COVID-19, are a punishment of some sort or a check and balance imposed by Nature to control and constrain everything within a sustainable cycle, so as to prevent the overall system from falling out.

I am not, however implying that this has to be the reason. May be there is no Nature's plan or Control System. However, in any case, we may reflect on this issue to come up with better sustainable ideas which can help organize our lifestyles as per our dear Planet's requirements.

With all that said, take a good care of yourself and stay safe in whichever part of the world you are.
